This collection comprises by-laws, correspondence, legal documents, programs, clippings, memorabilia and other materials relating to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Heritage Center and Museum in Pueblo, Colorado.

This collection comprises by-laws, correspondence, legal documents, programs, clippings, memorabilia and other materials relating to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Heritage Center and Museum in Pueblo, Colorado.

Collection Historical Note

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Heritage Center and Museum opened to the public in 1999 in what was formerly known as the Colored Orphanage and Old Folks Home on 27th and Grand Avenue in Pueblo, Colorado.  Notable artifacts include a sheetmetal and bronze sculpture of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Emmett Till. The museum shut down in 2016 due to financial problems and its collections were placed in storage.
