Abstract
The records detail the creation and operation of the KTSC educational television and radio station operated by the University.
Administrative/Biographical History
In the early 1960s, individuals, community organizations and the Pueblo College began planning for the creation of a locally-based educational television station. After securing a variety of funding sources, including national, state and local funds, the station was established on the Belmont Campus of the Southern Colorado State College. Broadcasting began in February 1971 and it was an integral part of the University providing valuable educational opportunities for the Mass Communications department. Rocky Mountain PBS acquired the license for KTSC-TV from the University in June 2000. The KTSC-FM has served the Southern Colorado region since 1970, and continues to remain a vital part of the Mass Communications department and Center for New Media.
